The Game

Matt Murray will try for his 11th win in 12 starts for the Pittsburgh Penguins when they face the New Jersey Devils at PPG Paints Arena on Monday.

Murray is 10-1-0 with a 1.81 goals-against average, .944 save percentage and two shutouts since returning after missing nine games with a lower-body injury. He was 0-4-1 in his previous six starts.

The Penguins are 1-3-0 in their past four games after winning 10 of their previous 11 (10-1-0). They have allowed at least four goals in four of their past five games.

The Devils have been outscored 11-4 during a three-game losing streak and are 2-6-0 in their past eight games. They won the first two games against the Penguins this season, 5-1 in Pittsburgh on Nov. 5 and 4-2 in New Jersey on Nov. 13.

 

Players to watch

Devils forward Blake Coleman has seven points (five goals, two assists) in his past seven games.

Penguins center Sidney Crosby has 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) in his past 13 games. He was named the NHL’s First Star for the week ending Jan. 27.

Status report

Wood is expected to return after missing three games with a lower-body injury. He was left wing on the second line with Zajac and Coleman during the morning skate. … Schultz and Aston-Reese skated before Pittsburgh’s morning skate but will not play. … The Penguins traded defenseman Jamie Oleksiak to the Dallas Stars for a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft on Monday.
